I had used Easter egg dye, food dye, Koolaid* and even Jello* (which I DON'T recommend. Great color-horrendous work and time removing the gelatin!)

I like your landscape Lindy.  Very colourful.  Did you do it with machine or by hand?  I have been busy too with the felting.  It is great fun experimenting with my new machine.  Thank you for letting me know about Gilda Baron.  I bought a book of hers on landscapes.  It is very helpful with colours etc.
