My entry in the Quilting Arts 'What's in Your Heart' reader challenge and ATC swap as published in Issue 58, August/September Quilting Arts.
It is 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches red wool felt background. The left side of
the heart is black and blue hand dyed wool with silk ribbon embroidery
and glass beads. The right side is two pieces of wool, the top pink
hand-dyed and the bottom (not visible in this photo) is a light blue
hand-dyed wool. The two sides of the heart are connected with an
over-dyed zipper. The zipper was a hot pink before I dyed it with a
brown ink. The zipper stop is a key charm. The heart is edged with
various glass beads and the red background is edged with purple glass
see beads. The interior of the heart holds a butterfly charm surrounded
by pink rhinestones. I have tied two 'scapular' to the zipper pull. One
is an image of Mary holding baby Jesus; the other is a poem I wrote
years ago and included in a quilted wall hanging "Mended hearts are
broken hearts".
