I really love this quilt ! love the silhouette and the graduation of colours for the sky, sets a very moody feel. Tell us your method.
The sunset part of this quilt was made by cutting small oblong tiles out of various sunset coloured fabrics which were backed with steam-a-seam and overlaying them over a suitable piece of fabric. In this case I bought a piece of Gloria Loughmans hand dyed fabric and used the colours in this to guide where I placed the various tiles. Once I was happy with the placement I sewed digonal lines along the edges of the tiles. This was my first quilting class ever so am happy with what I produced. Gloria Loughman has several books teaching different methods of making landscape quilts. In this class we could use oblong, square or diamond tiles.
