I followed Julie Richardson's article in the Oct/Nov 2012 Quilting Arts and made a thread bowl.
I'm not much of a follow instructions type of girl, I like to rush ahead and do it my way. I had a heap of thread off cuts from my crochet work that I had been saving and when I read the article I knew these would come in useful. I only had white wool roving and no Angelina fiber. Our products in Australia are named different, but I remember I had some wash-away, so I got to work. I wasn't sure how the bowl would keep it's shape but I guess It's because you don't wash away all of the wash-away. I counted the 30 seconds in the water and took it out and put it into my salad type bowl shape, I then put another small bowl on top so the base was pushed flat. We had a super sunny day and I put it in the sun and it was all dry in 2 hours. The shape stayed !
I do think perhaps I should of put more free-motion stitching in to make it more dense. I'm happy with it. I put some sea shells in it and put it on display.
