This a portrait of our poodle made from a stencil using Lisa Thorpe's directions in QA 's oct/Nov 2013 issue.  I made three stencils for light, medium, and dark fabrics, then made another stencil for dark details.  I fused the fabrics then used thread painting to add further depth and finished the background with micro quilting.  This is the first project in my resolution to spend a half a day a week learning a new technique from all my QA issues!

This is absolutely lovely! You can really see the personality of your dog. I'm inspired now.

Thanks, she was a sweet dog and I framed it in an open frame with a poem my husband wrote behind it.   It was a memorial to her, and I used a photo I'd taken. Thanks for the comment.
