I have a friend who generally makes quilts, and she recently stated that she wasn't making the large ones anymore as it tires her so much now , so I am going to pass these patterns onto her. She will be delighted.

Thank you. I was trying to find a bag like the Purple one to buy without success. Now I can just make it myself. So much more fun.

I love making bags and these look great and done very simply.  I am so glad handmade projects are making their rounds again.  I think when we approach times in which we can't afford much we go into our grandmother's mode and start making our items, start gardening, and enjoying the wonderful outdoors. I think we need to know when we go through recessions maybe it isn't such a bad time afterall.  It's a time to get back to our roots, the garden, the art of preserving what we do in life.  Instead of thinking negative let's think of it as a time to learn lessons our ancestors knew all along.  It doesn't take much material or much of our earth to satisfy our needs.

Thanks for the wonderful website.  I look forward to being an active member.

Aunt Mattie (the name they used to call my grandmother who owned the house with the biggest living room.  The quilts were let down from the ceiling in order for the neighbors to come over and quilt in time for the winter months.)
