One of a series of small art quilts made for a collaborative project - this was the first, and was my first attempt at fabric art of any kind, sewing is always something I've been a little afraid of :)

the material for this (plain unbleached cotton) was hand dyed using colour wash sprays, then lightened up a bit with pale pealescent pigment ink stippled through some sequin waste

the brown velour at the bottom was distressed a little at the edge with a hot stencil cutter

the tree was rubber stamped, but it came out really badly so I painted it over the top with black acrylic paint

all the sewing was done by hand

this measures around 6" square

I love what happened when you sewed the stars on.  I may have to give that a try some day.  This is wonderful keep it up.  It is stunning.

I love this piece, you have a real talent for this! (and you did a great save on the tree too, looks good)

I like how the tree is reaching out to the stars. Good job!

This is very beautiful. You obviously have an eye for colour and texture.

Ooooh! I love this too. Trees are another of my fascinations! Your use of colour is gorgeous.
