Now that I am back from Quilting by the Lake, I want to blog about it on Silverspring Studio and make more videos!  And by the way, txquiltie, even if you don't repair tears and holes, as long as they are not too big, they just add more texture!

So happy to see you "live" and in person.  I have an old photocopy of an old photo (yes, they're both OLD) that hasn't been transferring very well with other methods.  So glad to see that I can use a plain photocopy to make a quilt.  It is a black and white picture of my mom and dad before they were married in 1956.  Looking forward to creating something special.

I just got done watching the first one again then right into the second.  This is really cool.  I've been looking for another avenue to explore with my quilting and this just might be it.  I can't wait to see how everything turns out.  I'm thinking Christmas gifts.  Everyone will be so impressed.  Keep those videos coming and by the way I love your first name.

 I made my first Cracked Paper Quilt and I LOVE IT.

It was so much fun. I am a quilter for over 20 years now en the last 8 year I am specialized in making all kinds of bag and pouches( see my space). The last 3 year I began with art quilts and I enjoy it very much. It is so fun to go out of the box and do something total different.  I do have one question. I would like to paint my little Paper Quilt but will the paper not change and dissolved?  I did that with a little water on the back to get rid of the access paper like you mention in the first video and if I would paint it, would not the same happen? II must say that I am afraid to paint my quilt. Is there a 4 video comming about painting the Cracked Paper Quilt?

Duffy, I am so pleased you enjoyed making a Cracked Paper Quilt ~  can see why!

Take your completed quilt and add liquid matte medium to it, all over, front and back. I really like Liquitex, but you can use whatever you have or can get. You could use gloss also, of course, but I prefer my quilts to have a soft sheen as opposed to being ultra glossy.

Once that is done, you can do whatever you like. I usually end up with LOTS of layers of paint, gesso, stamped images, more collage, stitch (hand), painstiks, pastels, ANYTHING! Basically, you have a stitched and shaped canvas, ready to explore and develop.

Carol- I enjoyed viewing all three videos. What an interesting process you have developed. I will check out your articles in QA. You have given me lots of ideas for using my stash of papers/mixed media and perhaps combining these and your "cracks and ladders" with some fabric quilting processes. I am learning techniques and hope to work full time at art quilting when I retire in a few years.  The video process of learning techniques is very helpful. Thanks for sharing!  I hope you will demo the coloration and other processes.

I really loved these three videos--- new techniques for me. Can I suggest that it was not necessary to do all of it in real time, just give us the gist and then speed it up. Thats more time for us to get sewing. But thanks so much for this inspirational quilt. Would love a fourth vid showing how you altered it with paint etc.
