American but long time resident of Kenya, Dena holds advanced degrees in design and textiles. She has been on faculty of Quilt University since 2004. From her home in a rural part of Africa, Dena teaches design based on symmetry analysis, art quilting from built-up layers of improvisation and Math for Quilters for online students of Quilt University. She also travels the world sharing her considerable knowledge and skills with others, encouraging everyone to gain new-found discipline and creativity as they experience and learn from her wisdom. Dena exposes every student to new ways of thinking and self-expression.
Dena co-founded the Kenya Quilt Guild, and has presented many lectures and demonstrations for the organization. She has authored articles about quilting that have appeared in the KQG newsletter, in the SAQA Journal and in Cotton Spice Online Magazine and elsewhere.
