I’m fairly new to quilting. I used to make jewelry, but got
bored with that a couple of years ago and was looking for my next creative
outlet. I got interested in quilting by watching Simply Quilts. It’s strange
that quilting appealed to me because I’m extremely sewing challenged … can’t
sew a straight line and I spend more time ripping out stitches than sewing!
Just the thought of making a traditional quilt with precise cutting and sewing
is enough to send me to the loony bin!! Then I discovered Quilting Arts and
Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazines and fell in love with art quilting.
I just finished my first wall quilt … a memory quilt of my
grandma … and entered it in our local quilt show. I entered it to be judged
just for kicks and won a blue ribbon in the art quilt category! You could have
knocked me over with a feather! You can see the posts I wrote as I made it at www.cindylarsen.wordpress.com
I recently purchased a new sewing machine and I’m excited to
start learning how to free motion quilt. I also have a long list of techniques
I want to try. Even though I got bored with making jewelry, I love my thousands
of beads and use them to embellish everything I make.
