Hi I live just out of the coastal township of Opunake which is 45 mins from New Plymouth which is the western bump in the side of the north island of New Zealand.
Mt Taranaki is 20mins on 1 side of me &The Tasman Sea 10 mins on the other side.
My patchwork group-QUIRKY QUILTERS has about 24 members that meet every monday. We are a varied bunch with a mixture of talents. We have painters, scrapbookers, stampers, dollmakers and we all attempt to do some sewing besides all the laughter, show & tell & generally putting the world right!!
We are mostly current or ex dairy farmers so understand when some have to dash off to milk -the lucky retired ones sit back & smurk!
Our area has a regional day once a month hosted by one of our 7 main groups where we will have a merchant & a speaker /entertainment/theme.There is always a huge quilt display & a large show & tell &about 25 raffled creations made by the hosting group. There will be about 120 attend-its great to see what everyone is making.
As for me I "dabble" in lots of things.Felting, freeform knitting, stamping, dollmaking, bags, art quilts, the more freeform it is the better.
I have 3 teenage sons who have a small creative streak that is being buried under cars, girls, hunting & fishing as they get older. They have knitted, woven & appliqued in the past but dont let any of their school mates know!!
I am looking forward to this online community as it is very new for me so here I go looking forward to meeting some new friends.
