I am a retired Spanish professor and did not really start quilting until about 10 years ago. From the beginning I wanted to combine my interest in art and sewing, which have been hobbies of mine since I was a child. My first art quilting experience was at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina, in a class with Margaret Gregg. After that I joined the West Georgia Quilters Guild, learned how to do traditional quilting, and took classes in art quilting from Marilyn Wall and Ruth McDowell. I've also taken drawing and painting classes at John C. Campbell and in our community. I also belong to an art quilt subgroup of our guild that we named the "Art Tarts." I have a LOT to learn about art and quilting!! That's why I am so interested in this website.
