My Bio

I have been an Artist since I was 4 years old my dad also a Artist trained me in all classic mediums, which was great until I was 10 years old and discovered tag sale jewelry , glass beads and fabrics....I  have been sewing and creating fiber art all my life now...over 45 years, I spent from 1973 to 1995 designing and making collectable Teddy Bears and Stuffies, some finding homes in teddy bear museums over seas.  My hands gave out , Teddies are hard work, with all the jointing and hand sewing with heavy threads to put them together and handstitching faces...  So I found myself back in bead world , doing Native American Inspired Artwork and bags, while managing a Native American Craft store, and playing with beads and leather all day.  During all of these times I was always working Art & Craft Shows, taking my kids along ...I moved to the Outer Banks in 1999 because of the grassroots colony of artists here hoping to find a place where I could develop a Creative Center for Artists and wanto to be Artists.  I owned a bead store for 5 years , Ocean Beads Gallery, putting it in storage in 2005 when our shopping center was sold.  My husband was diagnosed with Cancer before we could reopen and we spent till 2009 fighting the good fight but he lost the battle April 27, 2009.  I am now realizing my dream I have my School or Creative Learning Center , I just need to get people here...but as I tell people Penland and John C, Campbell had to start somewhere.   So if you want to learn in a fun place and enjoy Paradise, my school is the place to be....I teach all mediums but my love is Art Quilting, fabric postcards, ATCs and more.  This Fall while going to college I will also be teaching a costume making class and a Native American Regalia Class.  Life is good it will get better and I will fufill my dreams of sharing with everyone I meet that they to can create.  We have the only Bead store on Roanoke Island and the largest selection on the Outer Banks...
