My love for needlework began at age 14 when my mother taught me how to embroider my blue jeans. In my 20s, I taught myself traditional quilt making. But when I began exploring nontraditional fibre art after art school, I knew I'd found my passion.
Although I set out with a particular idea in mind, I enjoy working intuitively and welcome serendipity. Two significant visual elements in my art are colour and texture. I create my own painted and hand-dyed cloth that is either used whole or cut and pieced together. I add texture and sparkle to a piece with a variety of embellishment techniques such as hand embroidery, free-motion machine stitching, and bead embroidery.
