Autumn Splendor

This was one of four quilts I made as a colaborative effort with a Raku Potter. She stamped and fired the leaves which inspired the piece. I then photocopied the tile and enlarged it. I cut out copies in freezer paper then painted the outline of the stencil with gold. I then coloured the leaves in with water colour pencils, pigma pens and more gold paint.

The stencilled leaves were then sewn to the background and were quilted .

The fabric attached on the left was gold lame threads, some yarn, and threads in between two pieces of solvy  and stitched. I then desolved the solvy and placed it on the quilt.

This was a great experience. Very freeing. I was inspired by Quilting Arts and Jane Davilia's books.

  1. Thanks for the explanations of what you did. I love this community in that people are so free with regard to sharing techniques. How did you acheive the “bubble” look on the background fabric?
