Batik Tote Bag with Quilted Squares by Julie

This bag may not look it, due to it's analogous color scheme, but it is entirely pieced. Many different thread colors were used for the square quilting designs, and it was all done free motion, using my good ole Kenmore sewing machine (which predates computers – yes I do dream of upgrading my machine from time to time!) I work with natural fibers when I can, and this one is all cotton, inside (batting) and out (batiks).

The bow is not affixed, but it's actually two strips of fabric, which are used to tie the bag closed. I'm not quite sure how many needles I broke on this project. 🙂

  1. This is a wonderful bag.  I love the patching and the colours you used in it.  It looks so rich and beautiful.

Love the design on the front as well.
