This piece started out as an attempt to replicate a pen and ink drawing on white muslin. When I got finished, it really looked overworked with all the black thread on the stark white ground, so as a last ditch to save it (and justify all the time I spent stitching!), I used a glue resist on the swan and Dye-na-flo paints to give it a new life. I think it's interesting how the paints flow and blend and how the black stitching is still visible, but not as overwhelming as when on the white muslin alone. This is not the last time I'll try this!
