Collaborative Quilt Series in Sundance School, Calgary, Alberta

Three quilts, 1.2 m diameter, 1.5 m diameter and 1.8 m diameter. Mixed reclaimed fabrics, acrylic paints. These are three of 17 quilts created in collaboration with the 600 students at Sundance School in Calgary, Alberta. Each student created a piece of paper-based art that would be one element in the overall scene. Class groups worked on grade-appropriate themes. This set of three quilts depicts three regions of Canada: the Prairies, the Arctic and the Maritimes. Each element of each quilt is a machine quilted piece, and the overall quilts are hand-sewn together by the artist and parent volunteers.
