"The Hope of Spring"

I used hand-painted cotton fabric for the background, water, and foreground grass. The swan and her eggs are painted on a white on white cotton fabric with an overlay on the swan of sparkle Organza. The nest is a commercial cotton batik with ribbons.

The fabrics were painted with Setacolor fabric paint and Tsukineko Inks, and were accented with Paintsticks and permanent markers. This piece is raw-edged appliqued and machined quilted with a batting of Warm and Natural cotton batting.

  1. The embellishments are very effective in making me feel like I am peeking in through some brush.   I like the slight distance it gives the viewer, like someone would have if they stumbled on this scene in nature and wanted to peek in quietly. Vey nice.
