Fabric Strip Mosaic

This image was made with the help of a computer software program.  Nine batik one quarter inch (1/4") strips were fused to a tricot background and it measures 18" x 20".  It is Ghandi or sometimes spelled Gandhi. The process took 20 hours to complete.  This is a donated "block" for a theme quilt on Racism.

  1. Thank you, lin-e-bee.  That is exactly what I hoped to accomplish…thanks for “feeling” it.  My piece will be donated to Maria Shell (wonderful artist and very talented machine quilter) of Alaska.  I am so happy that she likes the quilt as a part of her theme on racism.  As soon as she sends the photo, I will happily share it.

  2. Thank you, Bronwyn.  I just love to hear that I captured him.  There are times that I doubt my fabric selections and am unsure of the end results.  I have made many of these and I messed it up twice.  Those pieces will be used for smaller art pieces.  Thanks again, Diana

  3. Thank you, Pippa E. I will have to pass along the message to Maria Shell that we are all waiting to see her final quilt.  If I recall the quilt should be ready by April.  She is collecting blocks from other artists and hope to submit it for exhibition.

  4. Thanks so much, SomethingLisa.  My DH loves it and is requesting that I make one for our private collection.  I will make another, but it is nearly impossible to get the same image.  The fabric is batik and has so many variations in color.  I may repeat some of the fabric, but add a couple of different colors.  I prefer not to repeat the color palette.  Thanks again.
