Mola Pillows and Walhanging Kunas San Blas Panama

I want to share with you the art that inspire me to create many projects including quilts, pillows, purses, aprons and more…

Molas are famous internationally for the intricate and amazing beauty, molas are unique, colourful and combine a blend of applique, reverse applique and embroidery.

I made the pillows and wall hanging using some of my molas and molitas (small mola panels).

Aren’t these wooooooonderful!!  I esp. like your choice of colour!!  That gorgeous, vibrant tangerine-y, yet red -orange!!  I adoooooore molas, too!!  I first saw them in – of all places – Florida some 30 years ago!!  They are rare as hen’s teeth up here in Canada, but, every now & then I spy one and …purchase it, STAT!!  I’ve made a number of pillows with them over the years and have even framed a few of the esp. amaaaaaazing ones!! ie. I’ve one that celebrates the opening of the Panama Canal!! Once I saw an …entire, king-sized bed quilt made up of these maaaaaaagnificent works!!  Imagine!!   Hugs,Charlotte

  2. Im a mola lover too, the stitches in some of them, is just flat out of this world, I think the Kuna ladys must have xray eyes to do it, I made several small art quilts out of some of my collection .
