Pisa Passage: Passages Challenge

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

Pisa Passage is an exploration into my obsession with photographing doors while living in Italy.  Anything can be behind  a closed door and crossing the thresh hold can be the start of a cultural adventure or simply returning home expecting to find normalcy.  I enjoyed wandering the streets of Italian cities and towns wondering what lay beyond the doors so much older and different from the doors of the USA.  This door in Pisa was one of my favorites because of all of its character.

Wholecloth cotton toweling, rust thermofax screen printed, machine quilted, hand embroidered and beaded.  Cotton hand dyed embroidery floss, silk commercial thread, and rust dyed vintage thread.

  1. Sounds like we have a lot in common, I love doors too. Your quilt is beautiful, I love the way you’ve used rust to create this. You are one very clever lady. I hope that we get a chance to meet someday.
