Quilted Sunflower Pincushions

These were created from a fat quarter of batik sunflower fabric.

It was layered with batting and backing fabric.

Free Motion quilting following the lines of the sunflower motif on the fabric.

Great machine quilting practice on a small manageable size piece.

The fat quarter was cut into a 9 patch, which created 9 pincushion size pieces.

I added backing to each piece, sewed on all sides, leaving an opening turn turn it right side out.

The filling is polyester beads, the size of a piece of rice.  Excellent filling.

They made excellent gifts for my quilting and sewing pals.

I have a tutorial on my blog.
