Roller Paint Bag

These bags are so exciting to make. This is a fabulous 'Farmers Market ' bag. I used a fabric we call "duck" which is heavier than cotton, made my quilt sandwich, and did machine quilting all over it, then I painted it with a test pot of house paint and an ordinary paint roller. It made a wonderful effect and texture. It was great fun.

  1. Thank you both, I’ve made quite a few of these bags now in different styles and sizes, and it is always exciting to see how they turn out. It can be a bit nerve wracking to paint your quilting for the first time.

  2. Hi Nicole, I assembled the quilt sandwich and cut out my pattern pieces a bit larger than was required, then madly quilted all over. When I was happy with the quilting I then painted it with a foam roller and a test pot of acrylic house paint, start off with a light coat of paint and build it up till you are satisfied with the result – you can always add more, but you can’t take it off if you do too much. When the paint dried I then trimmed the fabric to the pattern size and assembled.  I’ve made several other designs so I’ll post those photos in the next few days.
