Tyvek Cathedral Door

My first attempt at using Tyvek.  This is based on a cathedral door I photographed in Lichfield, UK.  The quilting around the edge represents the ornate stonework.  It measures 7" x 11".

  1. Thank you everyone for your comments…here is a close-up…

I created tjis by drawing my design on the painted tyvek then stitching around the lines.  It was then cut away about 1/4″ away from the stitching before heating with a heat gun.

My 2nd attempt was a postcard which can be found here…

I’m glad I tried this technique as with practice it could get better – hopefully :o)

  2. This is SO neat!  I took a short course and sampled working with Tyvek and found it to be so much fun.  This is amazing though.  Thanks for explaining how you did it and including the close up photo.  Love it!
