"Whats up next Honey ?"

These native birds to NZ are called Kotare (Maori name) or Kingfishers, they hang around our property mostly during the winter months when we have a lot of water lying around. I watched these 2 birds for at least half an hour as they flitted around the garden, and when they landed on the post and rail fence it seemed like one said to the other " Whats up next Honey ?" . I have hung the quilt of an old  fencing batten and have glued a copper cut out onto this and using fencing staples to attach fabric to the wood. The birds are actually stuffed and have a 3D effect.

  1. Thank you allThe kingfisher’s were made completely separate out of silk scraps and then added to the background and stuffed with cotton wadding and stitched down with basic straight machine stitching.

I could quite easily hang another piece on the wooden hanger if I wanted to have a change.

  2. Hi I just love this piece. It is inspirational. As I look at the picture, I find myself drawn into it.

Makes me wonder what the two birds are looking at.

What a great idea for the top and bottom  boarders. very clever 🙂
