Pattern Corrections – McCall’s Quilting
We strive to see that the project instructions in all of our magazines are clear and accurate, but occasionally even quilters make mistakes and an error creeps by! We apologize for any problems this may have caused. If you find any errors in our magazines, please let us know and we will post corrections here.

Incorrect fabric yardage was listed for the quilt in the November/December 2022 McCall’s Quilting magazine. Backing yardage is listed at 4 5/8 yards and batting is listed as 76″ square. Backing SHOULD be 8 1/2 yards, and batting SHOULD be 100″ x 100″.

The yardage requirements are as follows: Black print: 3-1/2 yards; Green print 4-5/8 yards. The 12 binding strips should be cut from the green print, not the black print. We regret the error.

I purchased the March/April 2023 McCalls Quilting Magazine and I am having problems with the pattern called Matchstick Stars by Natalie Crabtree. The cutting instructions are not lining up with the diagram with the letters in it – diagram II. In the cutting directions there are no U1, U2, etc. and there is no “D”, etc.. Do you think I could get a correct diagram with the proper letters in it to coincide the the cutting instructions.? Thanks
Hello Heather
I will forward your pattern help inquiry to our pattern help department. Please watch for a private email from customer service
dear team, if I could find a contact email I would use it. I’ll look again when I have more time. Picked up McCalls Quilting July/August 2022 for the “Mountains are Calling” pillow. The pieces making up the star corner are not lining up right, almost like the pieces, not the stars, are all cut too small. Is it me? Have tried twice. Want it for a special Christmas gift. Please help.

For the last 2 issues I have been trying to download a free pattern I follow the instructions on the page an get nothing.
Dec/Jan 2020 issue- Holiday Blues. Instructions say 45 Block Z and 45 Block Y but the instructions read differently. 12 Block Y and 78 Block Z. Just finished all 78 Block Z and it looks like I need to rip everything out as I cannot lay out the pattern as pictured. Definitely needs a correction or clarification. Hopefully you will respond
The March / April 2020 issue has a pattern Criss Cross Applesauce that is shown 2 ways, photos show blocks with 2 rows of hst and corner triangles equal size, and the pattern describes blocks with 3 rows of hst and corner triangles of 2 sizes.
I just received my July/August 2020 issue of McCall’s Quilting. I have all of my fabric purchased to make Starlit Night Skies. In the cutting instructions for the cream print, it says to cut 96 2.5″ squares. Since that square is only the center of the cream stars….shouldn’t it say 24 2.5″ squares?
I made a table runner of 3 block Y of pattern”Walk Among the Stars” from the July/August issue of McCall’s Quilting. there is a mistake for making the flying geese in diagram V-A. The instructions say to make a 5 1/4 square to match the 4 1/2 square it will match. this doesn’t fit. And how is one to make 44 flying geese from on 13 squares? I was very frustrated with these instructions. I finally figured it out but what a waste of time and energy.
IN the July/aug 19 edition of McCalls quilting I think there may be a mistake in the amounts of fabric for the pattern Crackle. it is a runner yet it requires almost 7 yards of fabric for just the front. It is only 25×65, I find this very hard to believe. I want to make this quilt for 2 very special friends.
Thanks
How do i find corrections for 2016 patterns? There is an error in Cross it out that has forced me to buy more fabric to complete the quilt. The pattern tells you to cut your triangles into 1/4 and they should be 1/2. I have completed all my triangles only to find that they are the wrong size and I now need to purchase more fabric to complete this project. I cant check the errata since the pattern is not listed. I am very unhappy right now
Marcia,
I am sorry to hear of this issue! Was the pattern in an issue of McCall’s Quilting? If so, all the known issues are listed on this page and if you’ve discovered something else we definitely want you to let us know. I can get you in touch with the right person once we’ve confirmed.
Best,
Tiffany
