Quilting Marathon Coming to a TV Near You!

Love to learn new quilting techniques? Well, you’re in luck! This weekend Create TV® is airing a six-hour marathon on both Saturday, February 20th and Sunday, February 21st of 12 hand-picked episodes from favorite public television quilting shows including Quilting Arts TV, Fons and Porter’s Love of Quilting, Sewing With Nancy, and It’s Sew Easy.

As you watch these episodes, you’ll learn how to paint on fabric, make miniature quilts, use fusibles, and add photography to your quilts. In between each excellent episode, Nancy Zieman, host of Sewing with Nancy, chats with quilters at the Wisconsin Quilt Expo about their passion for this art form.

We at Quilting Daily are delighted that not one, but FOUR episodes of Quilting Arts TV are included as part of this TV quilt-a-thon!

Here are a few things you’ll be learning when you watch the Create TV marathon this weekend:

Experiment with stencils, stamps, and textile paint to design your own custom fabric with helpful hints from Rebekah Meier. Download the full instructions for custom designed fabric here.

Break out your can of shaving cream and acrylic inks to create a marbled effect on fabric. Cheryl Sleboda shares her shaving cream marbling on fabric technique in this free pattern–download it now.

You’ll need your rubber gloves, apron, pipettes, and microwave (…that’s right, a microwave) for this fabric dyeing technique. Linda Friedman uses Rit® Dye to create shibori effects and more as she makes hand-dyed cloth. Download the full instructions here.

If you love shibori, you’ll love Susie Krage’s tutorial on creating stitched shibori using Dye-Lishus® fabric. She explains the benefits this fabric that has already been prepared for dyeing as she demonstrates a variety of stitched shibori techniques. To learn more, download the instructions here.
