  • A Font for Patrick

This was a challenge piece in several ways. First off I came up with the design for a Challenge from my quilting guild (Pecos Valley Quilters, Roswell, NM) with the theme Holiday/Season and it also works for the Forum Challenge - It's My Nature here :) It also was a challenge in that I did a lot...

  • Belter Boy

This was done for a Sci-Fi conventions juried art show (didn't make it in, that's life) He was inspired by one of Larry Niven's series one that has humans living on the asteroid belt. The quilt is done in three parts: The sky - black fabric painted with dots for stars and a fussy cut of a...

  • Butterfly Meadow Dance

This is a reworking of "Butterfly Meadow". I added a fairy playing a flute in the foliage. The fairy was painted from a sketch of mine and appliqued to the finished quilt. His wings are a piece of "shaving cream marbling" fabric that I did a year or so ago.

  • Cougar Twilight

This was done for a Landscape Painting class I did with "Quilt University". It is loosely base on a photo I took of "Sitting Bull Falls" north of Carlsbad, NM. The Cougar is done in Tsukineko Inks and the rest of the painting is done in Setacolor paints. I add a bit of Angelina fibers...

I love it so far. I can see that there is a photo right below it of the original maybe. How realistic do you want it to be? I make my main pieces in what I call QUILTLETS they are stan alone then I can audition back grounds till the one comes along that feels just right. I was just reading the original...

  • Re: Tsukineko Ink Playtime

I love these inks. If you want to really controll them while you are working with them in details mix a few drops into Aloe Vera gel and they won't run. Let them dry and press and they will wash for ever without coming out. I use my artist brushes. It is most like water color. Drys lighter but you...
