Born and raised in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, I have loved the diversity of creation in all its forms – forests, ocean and lakes, mountains, and the abundant wildlife; it is the inspiration for my artwork.
Beginning to sew at a young age, designing and making doll clothes from the scraps donated by mother’s friends (as my mother did not sew, I was extra determined that this was something I would do, and do well!). Enjoying designing and sewing clothes for myself, family members and friends, I have also dabbled in embroidery and knitting. Having exhausted myself with the creation of my sister’s wedding dress I took a 20-year break from sewing.
Only recently I returned to the sewing machine to try something new – art quilting. My home studio overlooks the Esquimalt harbour, Fisgard Lighthouse and Olympic mountains - a most inspiring view - and it's my favorite place to be! I am still learning and experimenting – but I expect any fabric artist would agree those are life-long processes!
