Biography

Kathy McNeil, quilt artist, teacher, judge and designer is passionate about the health benefits of creativity.  She has a new 1 hour and 45 minute DVD on Multiple Ways to Applique. 9 bird block patterns and 5 different methods of applique. see www.kathymcneilquilts.com or Amazon.com

A registered nurse for 35 years, events from her life inspire her pictorial quilted paintings.

She is 57 years old and is married to the same wonderful guy that she fell in love with 38 years ago.

She has 4 children, two adopted from Korea.

Kathy loves traveling and teaching nationally about the creative process. She exhibits widely in

international competition and has won many awards. Her quilts are frequently featured in museums,

magazines, calendars and the AQS website. Many of her quilts are in private collections.

Artist Statement

Every creative act begins as a connection between the artist and their world. Exploration of that

moment of inspiration fuels the process of telling a story and making art. Results are never

predictable, as the discovery is different each time. A mastery of techniques and design will be noted

and appreciated by others, but will the magic that inspired the artist reach out and touch someone

else? When it does.... something big is shared.

  • Pacific International Quilt Festival/Asilomar

    I will be giving a lecture on Mixed Techniques used in Pictorial Quilting Thursday night at the show. Please come. The workshops are all one day classes at PIQF but if you want to do an intensive work retreat on Landscapes I am teaching at Empty Spools in April. That is a week long intensive workshop.
