Hi - I'm Amy in Austin, aka AnLiNa (pronounced ahn-lee-nah). AnLiNa is a Chinese name I was given by coworkers during a stint in China. I started my website and made tentative plans to have a career in art someday soon after returning from China, so I used my Chinese name for my DBA.
I play in lots of different media, but my favorites involve some form of sewing. I design and make soft-sculptured cloth dolls, art-quilts and 3-d fabric constructions. I bind my own journals and occasionally journals for other people. I like to paint and collage and carve my own stamps and have marbled paper and dyed and painted my own fabric.
I have co-curated with a friend of mine an annual, unjuried quilt/doll/garment exhibit that has been shown at the Quilter's Heritage Celebration in Lancaster, PA, for the last 11 years called "Stretching Art and Tradition". I have had quilts and dolls exhibited in the Stretching Art Exhibit, as well as dolls exhibited in the Treasures of the Gypsy and Celebration of the Doll exhibits at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX, and in the Enchanted Doll Artists Conference Exhibit in Albuquerque, NM.
