Alix Joyal was raised in Barrington, New Hampshire and at the age of 10 she began to sew. At 12 years old, she created her first quilt from an old hippy skirt, a pair of corduroy pants and an airline blanket. This was the beginning of a passion for quilting that has followed her all over the world and has landed her here back where she originally started in Dover, New Hampshire.
While living in Ashland, Oregon Alix began to fully understand the importance of the environment and our responsibility to protect the resources we have available to us now and for our future generations.
Alix moved from Oregon to NYC to study Textile Development and Marketing (TDM) and Fashion Buying and Merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Focusing on Sustainability in manufacturing and finishing of textiles, she received her BS and moved back to New England, to pursue her one true passion, quilting.
Alix currently lives in Strafford, NH with her amazingly awesome husband, Corey and their super dog, Isabelle.
Alix is also currently working on her first super sustainable and exciting Quilt book and hopes to have it completed by 2012.
Lots of exciting things to come…so stay tuned!
