My Bio

I retired nine years ago and have been sewing night and day ever since.  I still teach, but now I teach quilting and love it.  I teach everything, just what ever people want to make.  My personal choices for quilts is art quilts, and crazy quilts.  I teach in quilt shops, for quilt shows, private classes, and write for CQMagonline.  When I am in the mood, I print, package, and sell some of my patterns.  I have been trying to finish a book for a long time.  It was complete at one time and I lost it when my computer died, and yes, I am backing it up this time.  I almost have it finished for the second time.  One of my greatest thrills was when Pokey published one of my quilts in the second and third edition of Quilting Arts.  I had another thrill ten days ago when I discovered I had won the national challenge Marie Osmond and Janome were sponsering.  It has been very exciting.  I love all the new techniques that have made their way into quilting.  There is so much talent out there with quilters, and I love originality, and creativaty.  It is healthy...

  • Marie Osmond Quilting Challenge

I am so excited to be the national winner of the quilt challenge.  Who would ever have thought it possible.  I got my new 11000 Janome machine three days ago.  I haven't sewn on it yet, I am waiting for the weekend when I have more time.  I have had a great time going through all the fabric and storage items.  I know some of you voted for my quilt, and I thank you for that.  I couldn't have won without all the votes.  You never know what tomorrow will bring.  Dean

  • Marie Osmond Challenge

I am so excited and totally doing the happy dance.  At 75, happy dancing isn't that easy.  I won the national Marie Osmond / Janome quilt challenge.  I get wonderful merchandise, all kinds of goodies, and I can't wait until they get here.

I wanted to share my fun with you.  Hugs, Dean

I won at the local level where I live, and my quilt was sent to Marie O.  She picked ten finalist and they are posted on her site.
