… 1A – Cut 2 squares 4 1/2″”
… 1B – Cut 3 squares 4 7/8″, sub cut once diagonally making a total of 6 half square triangles

… 2C – Cut 3 squares 2 7/8″
… 2D – Cut 6 squares 2 7/8″, sub cut once diagonally making a total of 12 half square triangles.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Pieced Square
Step 1. On wrong side of lightest fabric, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Sew 1/4″ seam on each side of marked line: cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares (Diagram I). Make 6.

Step 2. Stitch piece 2D to adjacent sides of pieced square to make pieced triangle (Diagram II). Add piece 1B to make large pieced square. Make 6.

Block Assembly
Step 3. Sew 3 rows of 3 blocks each, watching orientation. Sew rows together.
Traditional Setting
The blocks are set “block to block”, 6 blocks across and 8 blocks down (48 blocks total). Note placement of blocks in the Assembly Diagram below. Blocks must be alternately turned to form the suggested layout’s design.
