Red
… One 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ square – Piece B
… One 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″ square … cut once diagonally (Piece F) – yield: two half-square triangles (only one triangle will be used in block)
Black
… Three 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ squares Pieces A and B
… One 3 1/4″ square … cut twice diagonally – Piece E – yield: four quarter-square triangles (only one triangle will be used in block)
… One 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle – Piece D
… One 4 1/2 x 6 1/2″ rectangle – Piece H
… Two 1 1/2″ x 2″ rectangle – Piece K
Assembly Instructions:
Sub Unit 1
Step 1. On wrong side of black 2 1/2″ square (Piece B), draw a diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram I, place black square on background 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ strip (Piece C), right sides together. Stitch on marked line; cut off corner 1/4″from marked line. Press seam allowance towards triangle.

Step 3. Using Diagram III as a guide, layout sub unit 2 and sew pieces together. Sub Unit 3 |

Step 6. Referring to Assembly Diagram, layout sub units to form Scottie dog and sew together. Use black “button” for Scottie dog’s eye.
