Course Outline:

Lesson 1:

Review supplies needed for appliqué. Picking out fabric for background and appliqués. Instructions on preparing the background and placement of the appliqué motif.

Lesson 2:

Instructions on preparing the templates and tracing shapes onto fabric using the templates. Also, cutting out the shapes and preparing them for stitching.

Lesson 3:

Cutting bias strips. Making stems from the strips. Preparing the stems and applying them to the background. Proper use of glue for appliqué projects.

Lesson 4:

Learning the appliqué stitch. Review needles and threads that should be used. Instructions on how to determine which appliqué shapes need to be stitched first if it’s not clear in a pattern.

Lesson 5:

Instructions on stitching points, inside corners and curves. Demonstrate those techniques so the students can continue to stitch. Layering of appliqué shapes and stitching before applying to the background.

Lesson 6:

Finishing the project by making the border rows and attaching them to the appliqué center panel.

Deanne Eisenman
Established in 2005, Snuggles Quilts Pattern Company is a quilt pattern design company. All the patterns are original designs of Deanne Eisenman. The company grew out of Deanne’s desire to share her easy and fun pattern ideas with the quilting world!

There are patterns for all types of quilts from lap size to wall hanging and table runners to pillows. Many of Deanne’s designs are seasonal or holiday themed. Beginners and experienced quilters alike will enjoy making these projects.

Deanne likes to add simple applique to pieced quilts to add a unique flair. All the applique can be done by hand or machine, whichever is your preference.
