Description

Take a look at what you’ll learn in Season 3600 of Fons & Porters Love of Quilting!

3601 – Blue Ridge Love

Designed with her North Carolina destination wedding in mind, Angela Huffman’s Blue Ridge Love quilt is romantic and traditional. This large, bed-sized quilt plays with an adapted Delectable Mountains quilt block, incorporates fusible appliqué for simplified curves, features a floating border of non-mirrored 4-color hourglass units, and embodies a great deal of love.

3602 – Web of Mystery

Holiday prints just beg for a playful design. On this episode, Sara Gallegos has fun with Halloween prints. She uses a modified Dresden Plate design to explore appliqué, decorative stitching (including glow-in-the-dark threads!), quilt-as-you-go columns, and more!

3603 – Gridding for Freemotion

Our brains are naturally drawn to symmetry, structure and repetition. Using gridded freemotion quilting designs will add simple elegance to your quilts and it is easy to stitch, too! Featuring both freemotion and ruler work, these designs work on a longarm or your home sewing machine!

3604—Let’s Begin

Quilt patchwork consist of several basic, core units, and once you’ve mastered those, you can piece anything! Sara Gallegos designed Let’s Begin as a way to really teach those core elements. Perfect for a beginner, or for someone looking for a quick-piecing project quilt, this quilt brings you back to basics with a fresh, fun design.

3605—Friends & Neighbors

Guest Carmen Geddes invites you to her neighborhood! Her quilt project features four house-style quilt blocks—all variations of one very simple design! Customize your “quilt” neighborhood with unique blocks, and with the scalloped edge of your choice.

3606—Shark Bait

Quilt as you go. Two-and-a-half-inch strips. Prairie points. Fusible appliqué. Plush fabric stuffed with scraps. Only Angela Huffman could combine these elements from a quilter’s tackle box of techniques, and reel in a cat bed… shaped like a shark.

3607—Which Way Around?

On the previous season of “Love of Quilting,” Sara Gallegos learned about the Disappearing Hourglass quilt block from a guest. She was so delighted, she designed a quilt using this method with her favorite patchwork unit: the pinwheel! Which Way Around? incorporates several Disappearing Pinwheel blocks (all using fat quarters) to create a maze of patchwork play!

3608—For the Love of Quilting

Love of Quilting celebrated our 20th anniversary, and marked the occasion by designing a sampler quilt inspired by some of our favorite quilts over the years. Jenny Kae Parks shows you how you can adapt this Fons & Porter heritage quilt to suit your own quilt style.

3609—Forest & Flowers

Angela Huffman has long been fascinated by the artistic power of sashing. For this episode, she designed a quilt, Forest & Flowers, that really plays with that element, relying on thin strips to create a secondary design. Angela’s favorite V-Block unit helps the create motion, and tricks the eye into extending the shape of her pinwheel block.

3610 – Corinthian Stars

Sometimes the simplest designs can yield an exotic effect. Sara Gallegos created Corinthian Stars using basic techniques, relying on variations in scale and the luxurious look of the fabric to create drama. The Sawtooth Star blocks are ideal for showcasing decorative stitches, resulting in a stitch sampler that lets you play with specialty thread and stitch designs.

3611 – Ready, Set, Stitch!

Guest Carmen Geddes joins Sara Gallegos on this episode for a project that is designed to improve your sewing space—and your sewing skills! This handy sewing machine pad not only helps you organize your space in an attractive way, but the construction allows you to try out different machine feet, familiarize yourself with decorative stitches and thread, and learn about fusible batting and corded binding.

3612 –Widgets & Rockets

In this episode, Angela Huffman tackles adding texture—with chenille! From chenilling stacked panels, to using chenille in appliqué, to adding a fuzzy pop in the binding, this episode will have you sewing this fuzzy fun in no time at all.

3613—The Star Side

Jenny Kae Parks, veteran teacher of Love of Quilting patterns and techniques, joins Sara Gallegos to showcase her version of The Star Side. Jenny made her version of this delightful table runner reversible! Add creative techniques to your tool box, including how to fussy-cut with a mirror, cutting 30- and 60-degree angles with various tools, and complete reversible projects with echo quilting!
