Description

4001—Tulip Festival
Let your appliqué skills bloom! In this episode, Sara Gallegos shares her wall hanging inspired by the tulips of Holland, Michigan. You’ll learn to create a center medallion with fusible, raw-edge appliqué, how to use decorative stitching to secure appliqué without puckers, and how to combine pieced and mitered borders to frame your floral center.

4002—Flock Together
Sara Gallegos is joined by guest Nadine Knecht on this episode to show quilters how you can expand your creative options through machine embroidery. Nadine takes a traditional pattern, Flock Together by Daphne Grieg, and makes it playground for stitching techniques, including basic appliqué in the hoop, creating a traditional hand-stitched look by machine, and adding dimensional silk flowers.

4003—Feather Love I
This episode—part one of a two-part series—Angela Huffman teaches you how to create a column-style quilt inspired by feathers called Feather Love, by Ramona Sorensen. In addition to the construction techniques, she explores changing to adapting the color palette, free-motion quilting on a home sewing machine, and how to work with an unusual, heat-resistant batting.

4004—Feather Love II
In part two of this two-part series, Angela re-visits the Feather Love quilt on a frame quilting machine to really dig into one of most enduringly popular quilting motifs: feathers. Whether you’re using digitized quilting or rulers or free-motion to make them, these feather designs will be a feather in your quilting cap!

4005—Remembered
Sara Gallegos chose to teach this Quilt of Valor by Sharon Wasteney because it was both classic and unexpected. The Alamo quilt blocks rely in strip sets and triangles for a bold, directional look, and the quilt is lengthened by a row stars and stripes at the top.

4006—Scoops by the Seaside
Inspired by ice cream cones on seaside boardwalk, Angela Huffman created a table runner perfect for any birthday celebration! Using batik pre-cut packs, this design captures every flavor of ice cream, and transforms prairie points into two-toned “party points!” Learn a handy facing technique and how to incorporate custom embroidery.

4007—Paradise Garden
Create your own custom panel using all the fun functions on your embroidery machine! Guest Nadine Knecht joins Sara Gallegos to showcase creating embellished backgrounds with lettering and specialty stitches, and how to place designs in a quilt block so they wrap around corners.

4008—Cabin at Bear Lake
Sara Gallegos designed this cozy, flannel quilt to use at her family’s lakeside cottage. Incorporating a Bear Paw block (for Bear Lake) and a Log Cabin block (for their log cabin cottage), this quilt also uses an interesting sashing technique. A classic worth cherishing, this quilt has a traditional appeal.

4009—Bluegrass Jamboree
Reminiscent of fireworks at the local festival, Angela Huffman’s striking quilt uses simple techniques combined with economy of scale for a dazzling design. In addition to the stitch-and-flip approach to yields extra “sparklers” for the border, Angela teaches a strip-piecing technique for what would typically be a foundation-pieced block.

4010—Enchanted Garden
Sara Gallegos is joined by guest Nadine Knecht, who teaches you how to take a simple hexagon design and really have a blast! You’ll explore motif placement, using clip art and sewing stitches in an embroidery hoop, hand-coloring your own fabric, and even how to create a custom, lace-edge flange.

4011—For the Love of Pie
Who doesn’t love pie? Sara Gallegos teaches a table runner pattern from Natalie Cunnyngham featuring a delightful pie block! The patchwork can easily be adapted the pie of your choice, and Sara also shows you some options for customizing with machine embroidery.

4012—Flamingo Stampede
A gathering of flamingos is called a “flamboyance,” and that accurately sums up Angela Huffman’s flamingo-inspired quilt! In this episode, Angela teaches traditional techniques made easy, from the quilt blocks to the quilt border.

4013—A Bit Fishy
Guest Valerie Uland joins Sara Gallegos to show off a delightful, fish-inspired baby quilt! This underwater world is a wonderful place to explore techniques like windowing appliqué and decorative stitching. And best of all, a row quilt is a style that comes together quickly, so you’re sure to have a quilt ready for the new baby’s arrival!
