Description
We have an interview with fiber artist Jeanne Williamson (page 62), an artist who has, get this, created a small art quilt every week for seven years straight. Her astute son remarked that that’s exactly 365 quilts. Amazing, isn’t it. Her commitment to her artowrk paid off, because while being a mother, spouse, community member, arts advocate, and creating larger bodies of work for exhibition, she carved out enough time to generate a small art quilt per week, and in doing so, honed her skills and discipline. Jeanne states that she used the weekly art quilts as a way to experiment with new technique, color scheme, or dabble with design ideas within a small format, and consequently she has grown tremedously as an artist. Essentially she has embarked on her own continuing education program. To all the joiners of the world, here’s to our continuing fiber art education.
